Efficient Interpolant Generation in Satisfiability Modulo Linear Integer Arithmetic

چکیده
The problem of computing Craig interpolants in SAT and SMT has recently received a lot of interest, mainly for its applications in formal verification. Efficient algorithms for interpolant generation have been presented for some theories of interest — including that of equality and uninterpreted functions (EUF), linear arithmetic over the rationals (LA(Q)), and their combination— and they are successfully used within model checking tools. For the theory of linear arithmetic over the integers (LA(Z)), however, the problem of finding an interpolant is more challenging, and the task of developing efficient interpolant generators for the full theory LA(Z) is still the objective of ongoing research. In this article we try to close this gap. We build on previous work and present a novel interpolation algorithm for SMT(LA(Z)), which exploits the full power of current stateof-the-art SMT(LA(Z)) solvers. We demonstrate the potential of our approach with an extensive experimental evaluation of our implementation of the proposed algorithm in the MathSAT SMT solver.

Satisfiability Modulo Theories: An Efficient Approach for the Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem
The Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP) and some of its extensions have been widely studied. Many approaches have been considered to solve this problem: constraint programming (CP), Boolean satisfiability (SAT), mixed integer linear programming (MILP), branch and bound algorithms (BB) and others. In this paper, we present a new approach for solving this problem: satisfiabili...
متن کاملImproving Interpolants for Linear Arithmetic
Craig interpolation for satisfiability modulo theory formulas have come more into focus for applications of formal verification. In this paper we, introduce a method to reduce the size of linear constraints used in the description of already computed interpolant in the theory of linear arithmetic with respect to the number of linear constraints. We successfully improve interpolants by combining...
متن کاملA Survey of Satisfiability Modulo Theory
Satisfiability modulo theory (SMT) consists in testing the satisfiability of first-order formulas over linear integer or real arithmetic, or other theories. In this survey, we explain the combination of propositional satisfiability and decision procedures for conjunctions known as DPLL(T), and the alternative “natural domain” approaches. We also cover quantifiers, Craig interpolants, polynomial...
متن کاملA Generalised Branch-and-Bound Approach and Its Application in SAT Modulo Nonlinear Integer Arithmetic
The branch-and-bound framework has already been successfully applied in SAT-modulo-theories (SMT) solvers to check the satisfiability of linear integer arithmetic formulas. In this paper we study how it can be used in SMT solvers for non-linear integer arithmetic on top of two real-algebraic decision procedures: the virtual substitution and the cylindrical algebraic decomposition methods. We im...
متن کاملSMT Beyond DPLL(T): A New Approach to Theory Solvers and Theory Combination
Satisifiability modulo theories (smt) is the problem of deciding whether a given logical formula can be satisifed with respect to a combination of background theories. The past few decades have seen many significant developments in the field, including fast Boolean satisfiability solvers (sat), efficient decision procedures for a growing number of expressive theories, and frameworks for modular...
